Addiction Help in Colorado

Are You Looking for Addiction Help in Colorado?

What Kind of Drugs Are People Trying to Overcome in Colorado?

Just about every drug is a problem in Colorado. Addiction centers deal with marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, prescription drugs of various kinds, and alcohol.

Colorado is one of the top 10 states for many kinds of drug use. And because of the lag of years in reporting on drug statistics, the effects of the legalization of marijuana will not be known for a few more years.

As of the latest statistics, the number of people who used drugs in the last month is about 50 percent higher than in the rest of the country.

The number of people who died from drugs is also about 30 percent higher than other states. And there are more deaths from drugs than from motor vehicle accidents.

You wouldn’t think Colorado – such a beautiful state with so many people focused on outdoor activities and nature – would be like that.

And it isn’t just a problem for adults.

A survey showed that half the kids in grades 9 through 12 have had marijuana, and one in four of those tried it before they were 13. And this was before the legalization.

Cocaine is also a big problem – 8 percent of all people in Colorado aged 18 through 26 use cocaine, and nearly half of all people who get addiction help in Colorado have a problem with either cocaine or methamphetamine.

People in Colorado are also heavy drinkers. Half the people aged 18 through 26 binge drink – drinking dangerously high amounts in one sitting. And one in four people older than that do the same.

In fact, nearly one in four people in Colorado drink enough to need alcohol addiction help.

Why Is Professional Addiction Help Necessary?

Drug addicts and alcoholics want to stop taking drugs and drinking. Especially if it’s affecting their health, their jobs, their family and the people they care about.

That’s why they say over and over again that they’ll stop. When they don’t stop, you might think they were lying – which only adds to your frustration, and theirs.

But they’re not lying, they just can’t do it on their own.

Unless you’ve been through it yourself, it can be hard to understand that. But it really is true. The hold drugs have on people is very, very strong.

When an addict or alcoholic tries to stop they can experience really severe physical and emotional pain. With help, they can get through that. But, for most people, that won’t be enough to get them on the road to sobriety.

Unless they deal with whatever drove them to become an alcoholic or a drug addict in the first place, the chances of them being able to stay off drugs or alcohol are very slim.

A good addiction help center helps the person through the withdrawal, and then deals with all the issues that got them started with drugs or alcohol so they are no longer trapped in those problems.

They also work out how they’re going to deal with life when they’re finished their drug addiction treatment program, and stay in touch to help them through any rough spots.

All the while, the person is also getting physically well – because drugs and alcohol can really ruin a person’s health.

A good drug rehab program helps the person through things that they would never be able to get through on their own. They come out a new person – or, come back as themselves again.
